A look at True North Miniatures Hungarians

As promised, here is some pictures of TNMs Hungarian range.
Note that I don’t have access to my old photo setup so the image quality is a bit low.

Gun/Heavy weapons crew

Gun/Heavy weapons crew

First of is the AT Gun crew pack, 3 poses, 4 of each.
These models are used in the heavy weapons pack too, as crew for the mortar and HMG with tripod.
They poses are a bit static but I’ll probably use a few of them since the add some variation to the limited range of Battlefronts Finnish crewmen.

Panzerfaust/Panzershreks

Panzerfaust/Panzershreks

Panzerfaust and Panzershrek equipped infantry, 4 poses, 3 of each.
Until Battlefront releases their new PS/PF finns  I’ll use these (and Legions East) for my finns. The fausts are a bit puny and they are all equipped with backpacks and puttees  and some of the helmets are a bit iffy, but those problems shouldn’t be that hard to fix, though it would probably be easier to convert BF germans…

Command

Command

The command kit, 3, poses, 4 of each.
A bit more poses would have been nice for the command stands.
But now I have radio-operators enough for a lot of observers at least…

MG crew

MG crew

The heavy weapons pack consisted of the above three quite nice (except for the mold separation) guys carrying an MG, and a few other guys detailed below.

MG/AT Rifle crew

MG/AT Rifle crew

There where three different laying poses in the Heavy Weapons pack, one nice thing is that the MG loaders ammo belt is quite long and so thin that you can actually route it to the MG and cut it so that it matches up properly, nice touch.
On the other hand I can’t distinguish the AT gun from the MG…

Heavy weapons

Heavy weapons

Here is the weapons included in the pack, the mortar (x2 in the pack) is a bit interesting since it is 4 part! A bit overkill in 15mm scale. The MG with tripod is not that nice though.
The crewmen included for these are the same as the AT gun crew above.

Riflemen

Riflemen

Some riflemen, the are 8 different poses, 3 of each in the riflemen pack, this is the nicest pack IMHO, nicely detailed and varied and dynamic poses.
Some of them suffer a bit from unaligned mold lines but they aren’t that bad.
The usual problem compared to the Battlefront finns are that they are equipped with backpacks and puttees.
I’ll probably snip of he packs on some of them and green-stuffing boots for them but it’s probably to much work for all of them.

Riflemen

Riflemen

The last 4 riflemen poses, nice and dynamic.

I’m pretty new to FoW. Just starting a mid war US rifle company.

Are Battlefront miniatures kind of the benchmark against which all other minis are compared? All if have right now are BF miniatures but I have looked at Command Decision minis too.

I am wary of mixing and matching manufacturers but the cost savings could be significant. At least it appears to be on the surface.

    Thoughts?

Im new to FoW too, the finnish force I’m working on is my first.
I really like BF miniatures but their finnish range is a bit limited so thats why I’m looking at other manufactureres.
Generally I find that mixing ranges don’t work that well, at least not on the same bases.
I’m sampling what is available most just to see if I can find anything that matches somewhat, the trouble is that most manufacturers don’t have any good pictures on their webpages.

Regarding US infantry there is a nice review of different manufacturers at Nordialia:
